ALL MAY not be well at the Jubilee House as shocking information picked up by whatsup News from insider point at vice president Mahamadu Bawumia reportedly threatening to resign. Insiders report there were serious bouts of mediation yesterday to get him to rescind his decision but he would not budge. Apparently a mediation team from the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and some prominent personalities-including clerics all failed to appease the vice president.
According to our source, Dr. Bawumia has written an official resignation which outlines his discontents. It is reported that appointees such as Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, Yaw Osafo-Marfo, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko (who is not an appointee but a prominent member of president Akufo Addo’s Kitchen cabinet) are reportedly usurping the roles of the vice president and virtually leaving him redundant. These rather shocking information picked up by whatsup news prompted us to seek confirmation from Augustine Blay, who is Dr. Bawumia’s Executive secretary. A text message to his contact number did not yield any response from him.
Whatsup News is still digging for verification of some of the wild reports around the alleged resignation. Insider says that, Dr. Bawumia was adamant about resigning and that it took the intervention of chief Imam Sheikh Osman Saeubutu to finally convince the peeved vice president from resigning at a time when his boss- president Akufo Addo was on a week vacation. Before press time today, whatsup News gathered that Dr. Bawumia is on his way out of the country leaving the presidency to the speaker of parliament professor Mike Oquaye, who would be sworn in at 7pm today.
The vice president`s notice to parliament stated he was embarking on a trip to Cuba and Canada respectively for both private and official reasons. Curious observers say the trip may be an excuse to jet away from the tension hovering around the presidency.
